Everything you need to know about renting furniture with Cohabit
Choose from pre-loved furniture, either individually or in bundles. Cohabit will deliver and assemble the items on your selected date, and collect them at the end of your rental period. The minimum rental duration is 3 months, and you can extend it based on your needs.
Cohabit sources furniture locally from individuals and organizations that no longer need it. Each item is cleaned, quality-checked, and reassigned to others for short-term use—helping reduce waste and move away from traditional linear consumption.
You browse and order via the website. Pick items from the shop, enter your details and delivery address, and place the order.
Cohabit collects items at the end of the rental period. All furniture is cleaned and quality-checked before delivery to the next customer.
Beds (single beds 80/90cm, large single beds 105/120cm, double 140/160cm), desks, chairs, and accessories like lamps, storage, etc. Bundles cover popular customer choices.
All items are pre-loved (second-hand), sourced locally, then cleaned and quality-checked before delivery. The site refers to this as "pre-loved furniture", and so some marks of previous use (small scratches, or marks or tears) can be seen on the furniture. Only those furniture that are cleaned and quality checked are delivered, so comfort and functionality is our guarantee.
Yes — bundles include a bed, desk, and chair as the basics, with options to upgrade bed size, add a larger table, extra chairs, and accessories.
All the furniture are sourced locally and may have a mix of Swedish and European brands. Cohabit doesn't have any preference for specific furniture manufacturer.
You can specify your preferences in the notes while placing the order, and the team will get back. For any special requests, send us an email to support@cohabit.se.
Monthly rental charges does not include transportation charges. Anytime transportation is requested, for delivery or pick-up or exchange of furniture, transportation charge applies.
Rental charges per month changes depending on the items rented. If you want to add additional furniture or remove any from the order, before the delivery is completed, no charges apply. Any changes after the delivery is completed, the minimum rental period applies on all furniture.
To encourage long term circular consumption, we have the following discounts applied automatically to all customers:
- After 5 months — 10% of monthly rental
- After 10 months — 20% of monthly rental
- After 15 months — 40% of monthly rental
- After 24 months — 100% of monthly rental
- After 24 months, the customer essentially uses the furniture rent free. When they decide to move or return the furniture, we will collect them and recirculate.
During the arrival period, thousands of students move in to the city, help us spread the word about Cohabit and for each new order (that includes your email), you are provided a bonus of 100 SEK. This bonus is credited back to you as a refund on your payment each month (upto 10 times).
The furniture delivery is done according to the choice of the customer. The following options are provided at the check-out:
- Curbside delivery: Furniture is brought till the parking closest to the building. The customer is responsible to take the furniture into the apartment.
- Pre-arrival delivery: Furniture is delivered into the apartment before the customer arrives. This process requires that the housing provider cooperates and allows Cohabit to collect the keys, deliver the furniture and return the keys on agreed dates.
- Premium delivery: Furniture is delivered and set-up into the apartment in the presence of the customer on an agreed date and time.
We have delivered to all parts of Malmö, Lund, Oxie, Landskrona, Helsingborg.
Delivery date is selected by the customer based on available slots. The typical time between order confirmation and delivery is 3 working days.
Yes, we can deliver to upper floors of buildings without an elevator (upto 5th floor). However, we have certain limitation on the size of the furniture that is offered to 3rd floor and above in buildings without any elevator or large enough elevators.
Yes, we offer delivery and pick up of the furniture during specific times across the week. Due to high demand the slots may be adjusted, please refer to check out page for the latest available slots.
3 months is the standard minimum. Shorter durations can be arranged by contacting support@cohabit.se directly.
You can terminate at any time via the self-service portal (transportation charges apply). Extensions can be requested by emailing support.
Yes, furniture can be passed on from the current to the next student when the incoming student shows interest and places an order for the same set of items. Further, the housing provider has to authorise this process of transfer between residents.
You receive a notification 14 days before the rental period ends, at which point you can extend or schedule a pickup.
You schedule pickup via the self-service portal. Cohabit handles disassembly and removal — you do not need to disassemble anything. However, we do request you to treat the furniture with care so that damages can be avoided. Please remember to collect all personal items from the furniture and give it one clean wipe.
You can terminate the rental at any time via the self-service portal, with transportation charges.
Yes — you can cancel the rental for individual items or the whole order via the self-service portal.
If the apartment is still under your name, and with the permission of the housing provider, a post-move-out pick-up of furniture is possible. Please note, the move-out inspection will require the apartment to be empty, coordinate with the housing manager to clarify their requirements, plan ahead to avoid stress.
It is possible to collect the furniture from your apartment without your physical presence, when you have appointed a representative (a friend / corridormate / family member) to meet us on your behalf. Cohabit needs access to enter the building, so we will need to coordinate with your representative, kindly share their contact info with us.
Yes — exchanges are possible if your preferences or requirements change.
There is no charges on Swaps initiated before 14 days from delivery. Beyond this period, swapping can be arranged, transportation charges will apply.
Report it immediately via the self-service portal. Cohabit will assess the damage and repair or exchange the item. Part of the repair cost is charged to the customer (Refer Terms and conditions for table on repair and damages).
No furniture deposit is collected during the rental period. When a damage caused requires some repair / extensive repair / no repair is possible, the customer is charged accordingly (Refer Terms and conditions for table on repair and damages). A one-time invoice is shared with the customer.
At Cohabit, we try to avoid throwing away furniture that still has some life and value in it. When a furniture is classified as not suitable for renting, first, we check for parts that can be recovered and reuse them. In case of structural damage or hygiene issues with the furniture, professionals are involved in fixing the issues. When they deem it unsuitable or beyond fixing, then the items are taken to be recycled / recovery of parts / disposed.
By reusing furniture that already exists rather than buying new, customers are prevented from linear consumption and disposal processes. Thus, the impact is two fold: by avoiding buying new products (resulting in extraction of virgin materials from earth) and preventing an useable item from becoming waste. Also, Cohabit sources locally, keeping logistical emission low.
All furniture is sourced second-hand locally — inherently more sustainable than new production. Materials used in operations and logistics are also sourced through circular resource flows from local channels.
Yes — pre-arrival delivery is available in partnership with select housing providers. In each case, the resident has to submit an authorisation form which allows Cohabit to get access to the apartment ahead of the customer's arrival. The delivery is completed on an agreed date and the keys are handed back to the housing manager. The customer is able to move into a furnished apartment upon their arrival.
Cohabit has a cooperation with AF Bostäder in Lund, MKB and Heimstaden Studenthus in Malmö.
Yes, we can furnish a full apartment including living area, dining, kitchen, study/work area and bedrooms for adults and kids. Please give us your requirements with preferences and we will do our best to accommodate the request. We will also be transparent in admitting if any requests cannot be fulfilled.
Yes, we have provided different types of furniture for events. Events rentals are offered as per-day rentals of: Beds for guest, tables and chairs for dinners, etc.
Yes, we have offered full kitchen set up (Plates, cups, Cutlery, Pots and Pans). Please write to us with your requirements and we will do your best to fulfill the requests.

Yes, we provide invoices as per standard accounting requirements. If you have any specific requirements, write to us and we will do our best to accommodate the requests.
Card payments are possible on the website. Additionally, Revolut and Swish (Swedish bank accounts only) are accepted as alternate channels for recurring rental payments.
One month's rent plus the delivery charge is paid at the time of placing the order. Recurring invoices are sent by email on the date of delivery, each month. Payment can be made through auto-debit or manual payment against the invoice.
Payment can be made through International debit/credit cards. After the delivery of the furniture, one can update the card used for rental payments through the self-service portal.
When a payment fails to collect, a second invoice is raised after 3 days. After a second invoice fails to collect, a third invoice is raised after 7 days. Failure to pay the third invoice leads to a penalty of 50 SEK.
All invoices and email communication are sent in English to the email id used for creating the order.

Yes — a self-service portal is available for requesting support, cancelling items, scheduling pickups, and managing the rental. Access is provided via the delivery confirmation email.
